*September 24, 2020. Updated

Greetings

We are delighted to welcome you to the 8th Japanese Joint Congress on Global Health, which will be held in Osaka in November 2020. This Congress was first launched as a joint meeting between the Japanese Society of Tropical Medicine and the Japan Association for International Health in 1999. Since then, it has taken place every three years and has now grown to become a union of all Japanese academic societies of the field. Expecting about 2,000 attendees from all over the country, this will be the largest and most interactive meeting ever organized, reflecting the increasing impact and dynamism in the field of Global Health.

The Joint Congress on Global Health 2020 will be the first to unite the four different societies: the aforementioned Japanese Society of Tropical Medicine and the Japan Association for International Health, as well the Japanese Society of Travel and Health and the International Society of Clinical Medicine. Japan is embracing diversity in an increasingly globalized world, with more foreigners than ever living in and visiting the country. We believe that the Joint Congress will serve a great opportunity for bridging across disciplines and uniting professionals and academics from all different fields of Global Health.

“Campur”, meaning “to mix” in Indonesian, is the motto of this Congress with the goal to promote integration and collaboration among disciplines, cultures and people. This meeting will celebrate the diversity in our academic society and all attendees will be part of the driving force to create wisdom for the future. We are honored to host the Joint Congress on Global Health in the memorable year of 2020, inheriting the enthusiasm from the Tokyo Olympic/Paralympic Games. We wish you all a fruitful and exciting congress.
